Anal … there you have it! I said it! It’s no big deal but yet it’s a still an area we “umm and ahh” over everyday as one of our biggest taboo areas when getting down and dirty. So we’re going to lay it down for you. The truth about where to start, what to expect and what sex toys you should start with if you’re looking to experiment in anal sex with a partner.
So let’s start from the beginning. Did you know that your bottom is the body part with the second highest concentration of nerve endings besides your genitals? Well you do now, and he’s some handy pointers to make your you discover it’s true erotic potential in a way that will be both enjoyable for you and your partner.
Does anal sex hurt?
Well the experience differs from person to person, but the key thing is to take things slowly and at a pace that suits you and your partner. Your anal sphincter muscle is used to pushing things out and not putting them in, so it will take you a little time to learn how to restrain this. It may feel a little uncomfortable or unusual to start with but once you or your partner relaxes the pain should subside and it should feel more enjoyable.
Is it dirty?
I’m not going to lie, anal sex can be dirty. I’d recommend going to the toilet before anal sex and washing that area thoroughly. Keep some wipes beside the bed and perhaps use latex gloves or condoms as protection if you are particularly squeamish.
Where do I start?
1. Start with finger insertion. This is a great way to get your bottom used to penetration and is highly pleasurable. Simply apply some lubricant to your partner’s finger or your anus, rub your finger around the opening of the anus in a slow circular motion until the muscles relax and then allow your partner to gently put their finger inside. Keep the same motion and remember to take it slowly and gently at a pace that is comfortable for the two of you.
2. Experiment with butt plugs. If you’re looking to get into bigger sex toys or enjoying your partner’s penis, butt plugs are a great place to start. Available in a variety of graduating sizes, butt plugs fully accommodate beginners whilst helping them expand naturally allowing you to explore larger and more fulfilling options. Butt plugs also have flared bases which is a safety feature allowing them to go in safely but not get lost.
We also have a full range of butt plugs, beads, anal dildos and more if you are looking to experiment in this area more.
3. Rimming. I can see some of you going completely squeamish on this one so I won’t go into too much detail. But rimming involves licking the ‘rim’ or flicking a tongue in your partner’s anus. Whilst this may not appeal to you, others find this deeply enjoyable and highly arousing.
Having Anal Sex
If you’ve experimented with toys and feel ready for the real thing here’s a few things you should do.
- 1. Always start with either a finger or a toy. Never go straight in as you need to relax the muscles and build up.
- 2. Use lots of lubricant as this will feel a lot more comfortable and enjoyable for both of you.
- 3. Get your partner to slowly rub the penis head against the opening of the anus and then enter slowly.
- 4. Make sure your partner waits for the full go ahead and take it slowly.
- 5. Once your partner is in allow for slow, shallow thrusts. Again I cannot mention slow and slowly enough. Take it at whatever pace feels most comfortable for you.
- 6. If you feel more lubricant, stop and add more lubricant and always listen to each other. If it doesn’t feel right stop and start again when you’re both feeling more relaxed.
